It's been quite a while since I last typed more than twenty words on Blogger, nor has anything exceptional happened that might possibly warrant something as rare as a blog post.

Had about two hours of sleep the night before, and a rather tiring day at worksession. Which probably addled my sensibilities as much as to tolerate the idea of walking home from Simei MRT. Which I did. As also expected (given that the route's the second most common one home) the footpath only went so far - I had to jaywalk across a highway and clamber over a flyover with some barbed metal. Small kicks, but fun enough. I fell down, earned myself a battle-scar which I nurse quite proudly.

It's kind of stupidly dangerous on hindsight, but I needed those forty minutes of self-directed adventure I suppose.

So I flew to Manila, half-expecting to do well. Kept chomping on delicious pancakes en route to a 16th-place finish. Worked my way down from Table 1 in the delayed KOTH format, ultimately phonying YEE* and missing EREMITE against a Malaysian to place outside the top-10. What else, also threw an endgame I would have managed to win under blitz conditions. Spectacular acts of charity, but I'm actually rather numb to it. Pride's still intact I could play up there if I could commit enough, and that knowledge's good enough. I did something I set out to do from the start of the year, made a good number of sacrifices. It's not major like setting up a business or whatever but hey, it was a self-directed plan towards achieving something. Showed that I needn't necessarily work within a familiar system to motivate myself. That matters, it matters real bad. Though I regret not studying more thoroughly - didn't use any of the words I'd mugged, which says more about the scope of my mugging than anything else.

Council's pretty much dominated my holiday post-Manila, which hasn't been unpleasant. The flurry of worksessions's passed quicker than anything, and I'm long-accustomed to not having a proper December break, having done SOO since Sec2. Am glad for an MTR that confirmed what I think I've to work on.
