Mum fondly related memories of her complete memorization of the geography and history textbook back when she was still a schoolgirl - a feat undertaken because she didn't understand the factors involved.

She scored low, but oh goodness gracious I need that sort of tenacity for focused memory work. Sometimes I forget this is Singapore, and all you really need is a decent capacity for regurgitation.

That said I'm glad I stayed up today, acquired much depth of insight into SEA historiography, pwrt autonomous history. Hard to see future value in this, but it issss extremely fascinating. Geek much, ohwell.

A bit more history later today, coupled with some Chinese till sleep. Surefire cure for the 2-hour insomnia I suffered last Thursday (:
