And there goes one of the longer blog hiatuses likipedia has ever been on.
Damn.
Too many things have cropped up in the past month, too many that I've no idea where I want to start documenting them.
But seriously, nor do I want to see this blog descend into a blog that does little but describe my eating habits through useless (kinda) quizzes. Not even if I create the quizzes myself :P
I shall start with OBS I suppose, given that it was pretty memorable and that I need to do a journal anyway for NYAA (shrugs). This's also one of the few instances that I will do a day-by-day account of, ever since my more juvenile sec1 days ba. Where my memory fails me there will be howling lacunae in details, but kindly overlook that, I'm still in a daze (kinda).
Day1
'twas raining, we arrived, we got stupid sticky plastic ponchos that felt bad on your skin.
We took a boat to Ubin, where we disembarked and grouped ourselves. In classic liki fashion, I sat in the wrong group for about an hour before I realised I was, in fact, in the wrong group. Then I proceeded to bloop my introduction for the new group.
The rest of the day was just buggy, full of administrative stuff. We did an icebreaker of sorts, the overdone human knots thing, which we took 33 minutes to complete, amidst humongous confusion, much sweat and hopelessly strained arm-joints.
Store-check was awful after we realised the equipment was far from being sterilized or perfectly new. I just stoned around with THE LOOK on my face, making myself helpful whenever possible.
Then we belayed, which was rather painful to sensitive areas waistdown. Being rather fed-up with the excrutiatingly slow proceedings, Dhanabalan started removing their helmets and tossing them on the floor. I was about the fourth to do that, and I got screamed at for "showing disregard for an item". How uh, golden.
Lunch was bland, dinner was downright nauseating. At least we had food...
We kinda looked forward to tenting BECAUSE of the imminent thunderstorm, but we were forcibly evacuated because Cat1 Thunderstorms proved to be a beeg safety concern. Talk about sad, we were holed up in ze freezing MPH for the rest of the night I suppose.
Day2 was more fun. We climbed the indoor rockwall, and I managed to scramble up eight tiles in a little less than 20 seconds. (hey look, athletic pride okay, I can't like brag about such stuff often because I'm so unfit.) Euphemism of course, because I didn't manage to climb the last two.
We had inter-watch games after that. Dhana got max marks for all the challenges (eh, they were physically strenuous.) and we won.
-- I am starting to get tired of this blogging style. --
We kayaked on day 3. The weather was brilliant because there were like clouds covering the whole sky with hardly any sun. And it didn't rain, except for once during capsize drill. Typical likism kicks in here. Not knowing that you can still get a tan with sunblock lotion, I stupidly applied as little of it as I could. And I still avoided getting sunburnt because of the weather. Ahhh.
We spent the night at some other ulu-er spot on Pulau Ubin. Kekek I think (i mean, what the hell? A name like that...). In any case, conditions were awful, but I had my best meal of the entire camp, courtesy of my watchmates.
Day 4
We missed the quarry dip by an hour or so because we overslept -_-''. Apparently the water was super fresh and clean and shiok because it was well, collected rainwater. Its a lot really, when you haven't showered for more than a full day, and haven't showered properly for more than 3 full days. Damn right, that really really sucked. The detour during the trek was actually quite worth it. The old lady with the huge amount of land which she used for small-scale, primitive agriculture was really nice. We experienced firsthand island superstition, with conjured tigers, voodoo magic, and stuff like that. Except that we had to trek on the double because we spent so much time there -_-'' Was one of the last to leave Ubin because I was struggling with all the rations my group didn't want. (talk about gluttony, heh.)
Just suffice to say that I was happy with my contributions to the watch, and that it was altogether a very pleasant experience. Survivor Pulau Ubin: No prize money, but we all won. Hell, what kind of monetary reward's that! :P
To make up for this lackluster post I shall post soon enough. Soon is relative though, keke.
