Spelling Bee 2007!

It was like a huge rollercoaster, from day one till end.

Crazy deadlines, lots of tanking, slacking, lull periods, unnecessary dragging, but we still pulled it off.

450 Preliminaries Scripts
71 Semifinals Scripts
21 Finalists' Scripts + QRR
Finals!

That includes setting the questions as well, and incredible amounts of ad lib presentations and brainwaves, so yeah.

It's been fun, but it's probably going to conclude after

Admittedly SBOT07 was bad, but it kind of worked out in the end didn't it.

Woonwei: You didn't screw SB up. Serious.

Guess who's the ritahd behind the lexical ambiguities and the uh, often unfeasible formats, hee.

I remember first coming into contact with lexicology in 793 (dewey decimal system). I was looking more for number games, number theory, chess and scrabble, but I always saw this unborrowed book. It was black, with colorful letters adorning the cover page. It was perfectly crisp, showing how people uh, didn't want to borrow it. But I soon finished 793, and after rereading a few of them, decided to borrow this book.

Alas, I forget the title of the book.

It was brilliant reading. All those useless trivia about useless stuff that no one except bored people would try. I mean, who cares how many O's the word with the most o's in the English Language has?

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, incidentally the longest word officially recognized in major dictionaries. 8 O's.

It's a bit crazy and the stuff of losers, studying, scrutinizing even, the 500 000 odd words in English, and millions more technicalities and abbreviations.

Yeah, this's my stuff, which is why I'm thoroughly un-preprogrammed for lit. Much as I would like to believe myself a thinker on the conceptual level, I nonetheless revel in such frivolous pursuits, which are uh, frivolous.

See, my Lit sucks.

Talk about Back to Basics, heh.
