Well, Kenneth asked me why I didn't want to sort out my life, get organised, start a studying pattern, start working hard, start allocating my time properly, start getting a proper life a student should have, and consequently pound everyone else into dust, seventy-one feet deep.

(pardon my fetish for weird numbers, i just don't like whole-ish numbers yeah.)

I told him that I was a nice person, smiled, then went back to the slurry pretense of deep sleep.

Kenneth's surprisingly insightful.

(its not that i don't want to link it, its just i can't be bothered to)

Anyhow, its really brilliantly written, which shows again that MSG isn't everything. And because he keeps whining that no one listens to his opinion (which is obviously untrue because I do), I shall LEND A FALSE AIR OF UH, BELIEVABILITY BY QUOTING IT HERE.

"“A term used to describe someone who does his work so well, he makes his colleagues look bad.” As defined in The Coxford Dictionary by talkingcock.com.

~

And how to do our work so well?

My definition of spoil market:
To put in utmost effort to carry out constant learning on one’s own without any specific condition, though ideally focusing on the things being learnt currently, and general knowledge.

A spoil-marketeer would read his newspapers and magazines like Newsweek or Time conscientiously, so as to understand what is currently happening. He would source for information / conduct a mini-research (from both printed / non-printed resources) when he encounters something he is interested in and work on things he doesn’t understand / is weak at. He would also complete tasks and assignments without procrastination. Self-reflection and other things are also important, though I’m unable to elaborate.

To achieve spoil market, one requires a good attitude. This is ambiguous and difficult to explain, but essentially one must have the desire to excel and improve in life.

~

One may have the potential and the necessary prerequisites to achieve spoil market, though there are as many opposing factors which might make him shun away from being spoil market.

A quote from the source I cited at the start of this post: “The only thing which I don’t understand is: Why blame us (the spoil-marketeers) instead of blaming yourself (the slackers) for not putting in the effort?”

A spoil-marketeer would most probably exhibit signs of mugging. However, mugging may only be for excellence in grades and other aspects, but a person who is spoil market would truly want to achieve these things for himself, and ideally, for the society.

Because most people (especially those in my class) have the attitude not to put in a lot of effort and slack, they might either dislike someone who is spoil-market, or make remarks like “Aiya [person] surely get full marks one lah” and other taunts which are commonly directed to those who do better. Therefore, it is somewhat important for spoil-marketeers to keep a low-profile, such that peer-pressure should not affect himself.

~

Spoil market should not only mean excelling academically, but improving oneself as a whole. But after all, if one doesn’t have traits like responsibility, humility, etc. etc., it is highly impossible for him to achieve spoil market, or perhaps even want to be spoil market in the first place.

Spoil market is an ideal, which obviously I haven’t achieved however much I want it to be so. Spoil market does not equal IMBA-ness, just as spoil market is not the same as mugging. Being IMBA is just being too pro, but spoil market is more than just that."

Quoted without permission.

Anyhow, there's a real reason why I don't try my hardest. It's a reason that has been quoted, studied, analysed to death by the millions of psychologists out there, whether quacks or pseudo-quacks or the real thing.

I don't like failing.

If I study and fail, I'm the biggest loser on earth, really. If I've tried my hardest and I'm still not good enough, there's no way I can go on, really. Because I can't stand losing, and if I actually am to lose, I'd sooner have something to fall back on, to blame.

I can blame my not trying hard, my being overcommitted, my being tired, my being a lot of things when I fail. And somehow that gives me peace of mind, that when my ass gets owned, I can simply tell myself that I could very well have given my 100% and kicked HIS/HER ass.

Very simply, I can't fail knowing I've tried my best. I'd go crazy.

People ask why I don't just give my 100%, then fail knowing I've done my best. That's my point precisely, I can't withstand the insult to my ability.

On the contrary, if I manage without giving my 100%, then that's great, really.

Thus the lackadaisical me you see is justified, whether or not its sound. I'm really very insecure inside

Just take this as another rant yeah, I've been wanting to get this off my blogging backlog since like forever.
